Frequently asked questions
What HR leaders and executives usually ask before working with us.
What does Ojong People & Strategy Group do?
+
We are a Calgary-based consultancy that helps mid-to-large organizations with change management, organizational design, HR advisory (including fractional CHRO support), people strategy, and project management for people-focused initiatives.
Who leads the work?
+
Nelson Ojong, Founder, CEO and Principal Consultant. He holds an M.A. in Industrial & Organizational Psychology from Adler University and is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner and a Project Management Professional (PMP).
What size of organization do you work with?
+
Organizations of roughly 50 to more than 1,000 employees, in sectors including energy, government and the public sector, telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, technology and non-profit.
Where do you work?
+
We are based in Calgary, Alberta, and work with organizations across Canada, on site and remotely.
Are you Prosci-certified?
+
Yes. Nelson Ojong is a Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, and our change management work uses Prosci's research-based methodology and the ADKAR model, adapted to each organization.
What is the difference between change management and project management?
+
Project management delivers the technical side of a change: scope, schedule, budget and risk. Change management delivers the people side: making sure the people affected understand, accept and adopt the new way of working. We combine both, because a project can finish on time and still fail if nobody adopts it.
What is a fractional CHRO?
+
A fractional CHRO is a senior HR executive who works with an organization part-time, providing chief-HR-officer leadership without a full-time hire. It suits growing organizations, leadership gaps during a search, or a defined period of major change.
How does an engagement start?
+
Most engagements begin with a focused discovery conversation. We listen to what you are working through, help identify the highest-leverage opportunity, and propose the right scope of work.
How quickly will you respond to an enquiry?
+
We follow up on consultation requests within one business day.
Do you build our internal capability, or do we depend on you?
+
We focus on transfer: coaching your leaders and managers and handing over tools and methods, so your organization can sustain progress after the engagement ends.
