Founder, CEO & Principal Consultant
Nelson Ojong
Industrial-Organizational Psychology, change management and project discipline, applied to the people side of strategy.
A decade ago, I arrived in Canada as a refugee, carrying the hope of building a better future and the determination to make something meaningful of the opportunities ahead.
The journey was not without challenges. Starting over in a new country meant learning new systems, adapting to a different environment and finding my place professionally and personally.
Today, as a business leader and Principal Consultant at Ojong People & Strategy Group, I see that journey as more than a personal achievement. It has shaped how I understand people, leadership, resilience and organizational transformation.
My story is a reminder that where someone starts does not have to determine how far they can go.
Championing diversity, equity and inclusion
Since 2016, I have championed diversity, equity and inclusion through my involvement with the DEI Committee at CLAS Calgary.
For me, diversity and inclusion are not simply corporate initiatives or policies. They are about creating environments where people are respected, opportunities are accessible and individuals have a fair chance to contribute and succeed.
My own experience of arriving in Canada as a refugee has strengthened my commitment to inclusive leadership and equitable workplace practices. I believe organizations perform better when they recognize people's potential, remove unnecessary barriers and create conditions where individuals from different backgrounds can thrive.
Connecting people, psychology and business strategy
With a professional background in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, project management and organizational change management, I bring both a human and strategic perspective to the challenges organizations face.
As a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Prosci Certified Change Practitioner, my work focuses on helping organizations navigate change, strengthen leadership, improve workforce effectiveness and translate business priorities into practical results.
I understand that successful transformation requires more than introducing new systems or developing strategic plans. It requires understanding people, building trust, aligning leadership and creating the conditions necessary for sustainable change.
Why I founded Ojong People & Strategy Group
I founded Ojong People & Strategy Group around a simple belief: organizations become stronger when people and strategy move together.
My personal journey has shown me the importance of opportunity, adaptability and purposeful leadership. My professional experience has reinforced the importance of organizational structure, employee engagement and disciplined execution.
Through the firm, my goal is to help business leaders and organizations solve complex people and operational challenges while building workplaces where individuals and businesses can succeed. I want our work to be measured not only by the strategies we recommend, but by the positive and lasting improvements those strategies help create.
My philosophy
I believe transformation is possible at every level. People can rebuild their lives. Leaders can develop. Teams can improve. Organizations can change. But meaningful transformation requires courage, commitment, the right support and a clear direction. My journey from refugee to CEO continues to shape that belief.
